Derived from the medieval Latin word Galilaeus, by way of Greek Galilaios, meaning “Galilean; from Galilee.”Galileo Galilei (born, February 15,1564) was an Italian physicist, mathematician, astronomer, and philosopher who is famous for his scientific innovations and discoveries during the Renaissance period. Galileo is often considered to be “the Father of Modern Science”.
Two popular songs contain references to Galileo: Queen’s, “Bohemian Rhapsody” and The Indigo Girls’, “Galileo”. (Behindthename.com) |
