Willow will she blow far and wide…

WILLOW

With Pink announcing the birth of her daughter Willow Sage Hart, will there be a rush of baby Willow’s born in New Zealand?

Meaning

Taken from the name of the tree which is derived from the Middle English wilwe (willow). Willow trees are noted for their flexibility and graceful appearance, hence the adjective willowy, which means “gracefully slender and lithe,” qualities seen as desirable feminine attributes.

Here in a community I post Β in is a Mother with a Willow – Her son is Jett and her daughter Willow Saige, another person commenting in the thread has chosen Willow for her unborn daughter several months ago.

Another forum I have recently started to visit, a poster asks about Sage for a boy and gets mixed reactions.

Willow is actually on my short list but I think its sure to rise status will deter us πŸ™‚

I know of someone who had her baby girl the same day as Pink, and also called her baby Willow.

For some time to come, I think the baby’s full name will be “Willow – and I named her that BEFORE I heard of Pink!!!!”

I guess not all people will connect Pink’s Willow to her’s especially the older generations, and I guess Pink may not be around so much when she grows up anyway. Willow is a beautiful name.

Willow is gorgeous but Sage is the stand-out name for me- I LOVE it! Toni Collette’s Sage Florence is probably my favourite combination period, they are my two absolute favourite names at the moment. I don’t necessarily think that Pink naming her daughter Willow will see an increase in Willows, but who knows. Do you know if other names high profile people have chosen have consistently risen statistically?
I only know one little girl called Willow, and she has no siblings. I know of a few people using Sage in the middle (one of them being my close friend I told you about who named her beautiful girl Jaimie Sage) but the only Sage I know is a boy and his siblings are Jesse and Michaela, which I thought were surprisingly ordinary names to be teamed with such an unusual one as Sage, especially on a boy.

I don’t know about popularity I guess USA baby name stats would be affected more than say NZ or AUS but I really don’t know. What are your top five names at the moment? I like Florence and I really like Flora- particularly reminds me of the wee girl off the NZ film “The piano.”

Can you delete the other bit too please? No I’m not in trouble but… well let’s just say the whole baby thing didn’t work out 😦
In other news, I had the weirdest dream last night. Obviously I’ve never met you, but I dreamt you had your baby and it was a girl named Pearl!
