I think Flora is so beautiful, light, airy… I think it sits beautifully with Violet. While i’m not one for matchy sibsets, I really like Flora & Phebe together.

Flora & Phebe is nice 🙂 Flora is in our top five at the moment the everchanging top 5, we have so much more boys than girls that we like. Whats your top five/ten still looking like? Flora & Eulalie are pretty together, I find Flora & Violet too flowery for me.

Nope. I’m still thinking the most popular Kiwi marg makes this a no go for me. Not fair.

Also, I do dislike the ‘bacterial colonies’ response some people have brought up with this name. I loved my microbiology paper at uni but I can separate the two very easily in my mind.

I had never heard of it as a bacterial colony, what did you study?

        A few things 😉

Microbiology and parasitology were my favourites. Microbial life is frequently referred to as flora e.g the intestinal gut flora composition was moderately affected by the introduction of amoxicillin.

I just wish the marg would go out of production.

🙂 Hubby has studied a variety of things too. Parasitology sounds gross! 😛 I wonder if the marg will go out of production? I wonder if many people would get the marg connection?

It’s fascinating although actually preparing parasite infested faecal material (just one example) for analysis under the microscope ain’t so hot I can tell you 😉

        They’re amazing creatures, really.

Here’s hoping sales go down and Flora either gets rebranded or goes out of production.

I’m sorry to say that almost everyone I’ve mentioned the name too has mentioned the margarine straight away. I like to counteract with the Roman mythology and floral connection but it’s still healthy marg through and through for most Kiwis. For a while there I no longer cared but it’s just too powerful a connection for me right now. Hopefully things will change because the name is divine.

I love Flora. She is so sweet and utterly feminine. I am surprised she is not that common in the US.
