Wow, I really dig your boy list! Bradley & Jay are the only :meh: names there. Nothing wrong with either, they’re just not exciting to me anymore.

My absolute favorites are: Timothy, Henry, Phineas, Edward, Ezra, Declan, Solomon (Sol is cool!), Oliver, Julius, Alexander (despite popularity.. he’s a handsome classic), Leopold, Thomas, Barnaby, Elias, Joseph, Reuben, Theodore,
Rufus!! , George, Octavius, Emmanuel, Rafferty, Thaddeus, Achilleas, Roman.

    What an awesome list,really! :D

Cassius is fabulous, we have one and are often told it is a ‘brave’ choice- not brave just good.
Ezra is also spot on [our second choice]

Cassius is gorgeous!! Not cure if hubby would go for it! How did you get your partner to use such fabulous names? I like Ezra too :) thanks for stopping by :)

Toby is nice its one of those names that suits a child and adult! Spencer always makes me think of the royal family for some reason.

Cormac is definitely in the running for me (along with Tadhg).

      babynamelover said,

I’m not a huge fan of Cormac and I can’t even put my finger on it, I think I prefer Mackenzie on a boy, hubby went through a stage of liking it for a girl,
Tadhg is pretty cool though, I also like Ruarc.

I love August, Atticus, Bruno, Beckett (future son I swear), Dashiell, Edward, Ezra, Elias, Emmanuel (I know twins called Elias and Emmanuel), Eliott, Fletcher, Henry, George, Ignatius, Julian, Jude, Miles, Milo, Orlando (another future son), Rufus, Rafferty, Raphael, Rex and Solomon. I also love Kai (third future son), Saxon, Asher, Alexander (only Sasha as a nickname though, I really dislike Alex), Luda, Ptolemy and Roman.

      babynamelover said,

Beckett and Orlando are pretty awesome as Brothers!! I really don’t like Kai for three reasons 1. means food in Māori 2. the abundance of Jhye/Khye/Ryan’s. 3 I really love Jay for a boy :) I don’t like Alex as a nn for Alexander either! or Xander. I haven’t heard of Luda what does it mean? I am fonder of biblical names I saw a girl Asher in the bonds baby search! Ptolemy is cool but I can never say it right and I knew a Roman with younger twins brothers Elroy & Xander.
What are your top 5 boys?

  12. 22

    Sophia said,

Luda is kind of just a made up name I guess. My mum’s friend has a baby boy called Lueder (pronounced Luda) and I think it’s of Polish origin…? I’m not really sure. I think it’s really cute but I prefer the simpler spelling.
My top five boys’ names are Asher, Beckett, Kai, Orlando and Saxon.
PS Ptolemy is pronounced toll-em-ee ;)

    • 23

      babynamelover said,

The P is silent? that is one crazy name hehe :P . Luda sounds like something of star wars/trek. Hubby says its Leda! I looked it up on Behindthename.com but its not there. I like Asher, Beckett & Orlando :)

  13. 24

    Sophia said,

Yes I know, Ptolemy’s tricky. I think it originates in Ancient Egypt but I could be wrong. You’re kind of right about Luda haha but I still like it ;)
What are your top five boys? And top five girls I guess, I forgot to ask that on the girls list.

Hmm mine without hubby are today anyway :)
Girls- Aurelia, Juno, Norah, Hazel, Flora & Isadora (had to do 6)
Boys- Atlas, Barnaby, Gulliver, Jasper & North

      • 26

        Sophia said,

I love your girls names, the boys are interesting. I really like Atlas, Gulliver and Jasper. North is very unusual. Did you hear that as a name and then like it or just warm to it as a name from hearing the word?

  14. 27

    babynamelover said,

Just warmed to North from seeing it in”The Baby Name Bible” where there are lots of word names, have you seen it? It just seems so strong! I quite like West too but Corie thinks its too strongly linked to the “West” family in “Outrageous Fortune”.

  15. 28

    Sophia said,

No I’ve never seen The Baby Name Bible. Sounds interesting though! ;)
West is quite nice I think, maybe as a middle name. I’ve never seen Outrageous Fortune because we don’t have it in Australia, but a friend of mine just came back from NZ and she’s been raving about it.

  16. 29

    babynamelover said,

Its by the authors on the site “Nameberry” Pamela & Susan. You should definitely read it sounds like you would enjoy it! Maybe you could get it from the library?
Outrageous Fortune is so funny it has got better and better as the seasons have gone on. What are your favourite shows?

  17. 30

    Sophia said,

I’ll have to ask my friend if I can borrow Outrageous Fortune because I’m pretty sure she bought a box set in NZ. My favourite shows are United States of Tara, Gossip Girl, Rove, Doctor Who, Spicks and Specks, Skins, Scrubs, Weeds, Kath and Kim, Thank God You’re Here and At The Movies. Do you like any of those?

  18. 31

    babynamelover said,

You should definitely watch it :) I don’t watch many the main three I watch are “Outageous Fortune” “Grey’s Anatomy” and “Private Practice”.
I haven’t heard of United States of Tara, Gossip Girl, Spicks and Specks, Weeds or Thank God Your’e here at the Movies.

  19. 32

    Sophia said,

Really? Well I would definitely recommend looking into United States of Tara, it’s starring Toni Collette and the first season has just finished in Australia. It’s about a woman with multiple personalities and her family life, it’s sooo good. Gossip Girl is just… just amazing, but mostly aimed at teenage girls I think. You may like it though. It’s about the lives of Manhattan’s Elite and it’s just so addictive. Spicks and Specks is a music quiz show that I’m pretty sure only shows in Australia. Weeds is an American dramedy I guess, I haven’t watched that much but what I saw was really good. Thank God You’re Here is great, each week four guests come on, usually comedians, and they each take it in turns to get into costume and walk through a door into a loosely scripted scene that they know nothing about and they have to bluff their way through. It’s pretty hilarious. At The Movies is a movie review show where they basically just review upcoming films. I really enjoy it. So there you have it! Look into them if you’re interested :)

    babynamelover said,

I will :) I will check in to which ones screen in NZ and then you know if I like them :) thanks for the recommendations :)
