hehe we have very very different tastes in baby names my friend! although i think we have already established that.
definitely not keen on atlas, barnaby, benedict, aurelia, xanthippe, millicent or winifred. those would probably be on my irrational dislike list. no offence meant obviously.
my favourites are still nataliah and oliver. several times in the past two years ive had this dream that i have a little girl called Avalon (ava for short). wonder if someone is telling me something? i also like the combination mikaeli rose.
im going to turn off my computer and attempt to get some more sleep now. or i shall be very very very cranky.

We do I think! but thats okay I still love you
. Xanthippe & Millicent CJ has said no to I think they are GP (guilty pleasures) I wouldn’t use in real life along with Atlas lol. I think I like Winifred from Winnie the Witch books I think only as a middle. I love Barnaby, Benedict & Aurelia though. I am going to update my favourites very soon so you can pick them over again when you come back
Oliver is awesome! The cat next door is Oli not sure if its short for Oliver, he thinks he lives here I don’t think Hayden lets him inside much he has neon strobe lights in the flat and plays techno music and may have a bf but not sure lol.
Avalon is gorgeous! after watching greys recently I like Arizona! and I know its a “lesbian” name
I like Mikaeli but the spelling is very ”trendee”! is that the original way to spell it?
I will txt you today
sarah said,

yep thats the original way to spell it. i read somewhere that its a small town in italy. ive seen worse spellings tho. mykaylee, makaylie, mckaylee. i don’t call it trendee i call it stripperizing cos half of those bogan/trendee spellings look like stripper names to me. hehe. no offence to anyone on here.

other sites have mikaeli listed as a derivation of michael…
babynamelover said,
September 20, 2009 @ 1:19 am
aww so that is the original spelling. It is pretty! do you think people would always go to say Mikayla?
sarah said,
September 20, 2009 @ 2:56 am
maybe. i know a mikaeli here in methven. shes 11 and she said she sometimes gets mikayla but not very often.

We think very similarly when it comes to names. Older is better

If only we were naming a baby
. hubby is pretty good with baby names although he doesn’t like all old fashioned names he doesn’t like popular or trendy ones. What is your partners naming style? what are their favourites?

Tim is a typical guy. He wanted to use the name Xavier Steele at some point. He did pick Remy’s name though so I’ve got to give him credit.

Cato, Emmett, Elliot, Otto,Evander, Atticus, Indigo, Arthur, River, Solomon, Atlas, Harvey, Knox,Ambrose, Dexter, Ezra, Felix, George, Vann, Homer, Judah, Jude, Keanu, Leo, Marley, Oscar, Samson, Saul, Willoughby,Toby, Raphael, & Titus
When I asked my 4 yr old what he thought of the name Willoughby (I love it), he said “I don’t like it.” I asked why not and he said “I think you made it up.”
Ruby, Arabella, Hazel, Isadora, Iris, Thea, Gaia, Isobel, Cora, Jemima,Seraphine, Mathilde, Norah, Winifred, Frances, Venus, Zelda, Olivine (I THOUGHT I WAS THE ONLY ONE WHO HAD THIS ON HER LISTS!!!), Demetria, Calliope (Poppy), Cleopatra (Cleo), Inez, Flora, Ivy, Marigold, Cordelia, Delilah, Echo, Isolde, Pandora, Persephone, Cordelie, Luna, Keiko.
such a beautiful list. I had never thought of Calliope as a way to get to Poppy.
babynamelover said,
September 27, 2009 @ 8:38 pm
Willoughby is my Dad’s Dad middle name, Steven Willoughby. I much prefer Willoughby to William. I wonder why he thought it was made up
A lady on huggies forum is Calliope and she calls herself Poppy. I like Poppy but Mum and Dad had a sheep Poppy so I don’t know if I could use it as a first full name unless the association wears off
I just actually only found Olivine the other day its so pretty! I much prefer it to Olivia and Olive
Thanks for all your comments on my list

Tim’s top faves, and they haven’t changed, are Atticus & Eulalie. When we were preggers w/ Kel I was reading through a book of Edgar Allen Poe poetry and found the name Eulalie and it just clicked.
I go back and forth w/ the girl names but it’s usually between Eulalie and Cordelia. For boys, I change my mind all the time. Right now Eben is tops, but I’ve got a list of my faves that I keep on my comp. Some that I would use, some that I never would. I’m always swapping out w/ my moods. I’ve been sort of facinated by Nimue (Nim oo ay). I wouldn’t use it but I think it’s so interesting.
babynamelover said,
September 28, 2009 @ 10:12 pm
Eulalie is very pretty
Atticus is very handsome! Remy, Kelson & Atticus is very nice. I have just started to like Cordelia I used to like plain Cora but am unsure whether its too nicknamey for a full name. Also Cora is too close to Corie my husband although It would kind of be a combination of our names. Corie, Anna & Cora sounds a bit funny though hehe. Nimue is interesting where does it come from?
Sarah said,
September 28, 2009 @ 10:25 pm
It’s the name of the Lady of the Lake from Arthurian legend. She’s also written as being named Vivian sometimes. She was an evil sorceress, but I just think it sounds cool.
I have a similar problem w/ Cordelia. My SIL is named Corby. I worry that the whole Cordy/Corby thing would be weird. I prefer the NN Cora but nicknames have a way of working themselves out.

i’ve been watching too much Dead Like Me lately…i have fallen in love with the names Daisy and Penny. And georgia with george as a nickname. hehe.
babynamelover said,

George on a girl
! thats crazy lol. I am on the fence with Daisy still makes me think of a cow eating a flower hehe. I have started to like Penelope which I use to hate
Corie likes Georgia well he used to not sure if he still does.
sarah said,
September 29, 2009 @ 7:30 am
it would take a lot of personality to pull of the nickname george. but on dead like me georgia was really feisty and pulled no punches and she could really pull it off hehe. have u seen dead like me? hehe the reaper Penny went down on the titanic she refuses to have ice in her drinks. the reapers all have older names Rube, Roxy, Mason, Daisy, Penny, Betty and georgia. of couse rube and daisy died in the 30’s, mason in the 60’s, Roxy in the 70’s, Penny in 1912 and i think betty died in the 40’s or 50’s.
sarah said,
September 29, 2009 @ 7:48 am
nah just rube. rhymes with cube. its a guy. its an awesome show. it based on bunch of grim reapers lives, trying to fit in with the living without getting caught out. its a comedy. really funny. LOTS of 4 letter F-words tho. lol if u can handle the swearing in outrageous you can handle dead like me. i will tidy my room one of these days and you could come over one weekend maybe.
babynamelover said,

Sarah, I know a girl called Nimue, but she pronounces it ‘Nim-YOO’. I also know a little girl called Nimowei (Nim-oh-way). Just thought I’d put that out there

Hopefully Sarah will see that
If shes on and leaves a comment I will let her know.

I’ve never heard of it pronounced Nim YOO, but then I’ve only seen it in reference to Merlin, etc.. I like the way Nimowei is said, but not as fond of the spelling. It’s really cool that you know to variants of Nimue. J/C where are you from?

i like Anahera. not big on a lot of maori names but that one i really like…probably because of the meaning…and it rolls off the tongue nicely
babynamelover said,
October 13, 2009 @ 7:39 am
We were going through our list the other day and CJ said theres one missing I like and then he remembered it was Anahera! I like Moana too I love the sea people would say Mo-ana or anna though.

Xavier is kind of cool with Remy & Kelson though. I saw Remi on bewildertrix’s blog on a girl in birth announcements think it was Remi Grace from memory. Guys deserve more credit for cool baby name choices I think
Sarah said,
September 28, 2009 @ 11:54 am
I think men tend to go more w/ their gut when naming. They don’t complicate it by researching every name on the planet. Xavier would go really well w/ Remy & Kelson. It’s got that same balance of antiquity w/ the modern feel.
babynamelover said,
September 28, 2009 @ 8:46 pm
It has
do you like Xavier is much as Eben? what is your top favourite girls and boys? Mine at the moment are Juno & Barnaby
babynamelover said,
September 28, 2009 @ 8:48 pm
oh and I agree, Corie also says some are too weird, some he can’t say like “arabella’ he says “ellabella” some he says are spelt too weird. He tends to like “private school names” “surnames” and more uncommon names although he loved Noah for awhile it was his absolute fav then he said it go to popular. Oh also his biggest thing is does it stand the test of time so if he doesn’t like it when we review the list it gets crossed off.
babynamelover said,
September 28, 2009 @ 10:55 pm
Pandora is an evil name and I like that meh hehe
Arthurian Legend I should read more about that
Or Delia is another nn. Corby is interesting on a girl I would think that is more masculine name.
Nicknames usually do work themselves out I agree
babynamelover said,

No I haven’t I still want to come over and see your flat
then we could watch it if you not sick of it
was she a redhead George?
Betty is pretty cute, there is an Asian Betty I know who is older than us but the other two I know are ancient lol. Rube is that Ruby? I have seen Rubi I don’t like that spelling! We got an auction of kids toys for a $1 on trademe today in a suitcase it was like xmas hehe.
